AetherSX2 PS2 Emulator Ceases Development Due To ‘Death Threats’

If you have been an active part of the PS2 Emulation community, you might have heard about the feature-packed PS2 Emulator AetherSX2. You will be surprised to know a lone developer created AetherSX2.

Sadly that developer has “indefinitely suspended” development of the emulator due to neverending impersonating, complaints, demands, and even death threats. The developer has clearly stated that working on this emulator for PS2 isn’t fun anymore.

Furthermore, even users of the EmulationOnAndroid subreddit were concerned about the difficulties being faced by AetherSX2 developer.

Luckily you can still download, install, and use the app and it will continue to work for the foreseeable future but there won’t be any development. The developer has also alerted users about the number of scammers and fake apps out there.

Before AetherSX2 PS2 Emulator came into DamonPS2 which is a closed-source and for-profit app was the only working emulator to enjoy PS2 games on Android devices. You can check out the guide Download AetherSX2: The PS2 Emulator if you are interested in downloading the emulator on your Android smartphone to play some PS2 games.
