Shadow has recently acquired Genymobile. For those unaware, Genymobile is the creator behind Genymotion, an Android-based emulator and it’s now a part of Shadow’s existing cloud gaming service.
In comparison to normal emulators, the Genymotion emulator is generally used by developers to test their apps on multiple configurations. Genymobile has been around for almost a decade now and they mostly work on Android emulation emulators. At the time of writing this article, details about the deal haven’t been disclosed yet.

In an official statement, Shadow CEO Eric Sèle stated,
“We are very happy to announce this acquisition as the relationship built this past year with Genymobile has been pivotal to our progress in the development of the next-coming generation of our service,”
He further added,
“This acquisition will bring additional expertise to Shadow, and also showcases our ambition as a company, which will go through both internal and external growth.”
After the acquisition, Genymobile’s co-founder and CTO Arnaud Dupuis will stay at the company and act as the chief executive of Genymobile. On the other hand, Genymobile’s existing CEO Tim Danford will step back from the company’s day-to-day activities and move to an advisor role.
