Now Play Metal Gear Solid 2 via an emulator on PC

Have you heard the rumors about Konami potentially working on a Metal Gear Solid Collection? It seems like there’s been a lot of talk about it lately. But did you know that PC gamers can already play an HD Remaster of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance? All you need is the PlayStation 2 emulator, PCSX2.

I came across a video on YouTube by ‘NoBigDeal La’ showing Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance being played on a PC using PCSX2 1.7.4, and let me tell you, it looks absolutely amazing. The YouTuber even used an HD texture pack that you can download for yourself.

Play Metal Gear Solid 2 with a Keyboard and Mouse

Here is something else that is pretty cool – PCSX2 supports computer peripherals so that you can play MGS2 with your mouse and keyboard. However, it is important to note that the game still displays the original PS2 buttons. Nevertheless, this is a real game-changer for those of us who want to replay these classic PS2 games with K&M.

There was an HD texture pack that worked on the PC but will sadly not work on the PS2 versions.  But hopefully, someone will release an HD Texture Pack for the PC version soon. And, while we’re at it, an unofficial patch with some gameplay improvements would be pretty sweet too.

But until then, you can still enjoy this classic MGS game in full HD on your PC through PCSX2.
